It’s About More Than How to Makeup Eyes
Beauty is about more than how to makeup eyes. Yet, we are constantly comparing ourselves to standards which leave us feeling discouraged and defeated.
What are your thoughts as you apply your makeup every morning? Ugh…look at that blemish…cover those dark circles…conceal that scar…smooth that texture…minimize those pores.
I venture to guess it is negativity about a face that special persons have come to know and love. All those critical thoughts about individual features that come together to make up one very beautiful, special, unique person.
As ladies we are constantly bombarded with images with unreachable expectations that define how we measure up in this world. These images lead to nagging, judging, critical thoughts about our appearance that can strip any feelings of worthiness and love we may have for ourselves. We put our faces under a microscope and pull the plug on our self confidence. Before you know it, you’re telling yourself, “I just don’t have time to put on makeup, do my hair, or even get dressed; I’m just picking up the kids, taking them to practice, or running into the store for a few things.” We begin to settle and put ourselves on the back burner sacrificing for the sake of our families. At least this is what we say to ourselves. Would you ask your daughter to settle? Or encourage her to dress for the part she wants in this world?
So tomorrow morning I challenge you to change your focus from how to makeup eyes and embrace your face. Identify your favorite feature, use your makeup to accentuate it, and fall in love with your face again.
When our thoughts change from the negative to the beautiful, our whole perspective changes. It has a ripple effect that could potentially change your whole day, week, even your world.
Imagine what could happen if your day started with smiles instead of disdain. Throw away the thoughts that limit your worth and tell you you’re not enough and rediscover your unique beauty.
Investing in ourselves with quality products affirms our worthiness and feelings of self pride as it is so much more than how to makeup eyes.
It aligns our self beliefs and the comfort we feel within our own skin despite the images of mainstream expectations. It is us reassuring ourselves we are worth it, we are important, we matter. When we reconnect with ourselves and feel pride in our appearance, the excuses we tell ourselves just fade away.
It’s not about being conceited or full of yourself to play up your assets.
